"AOI understands that access to and affordability of healthcare is crucial to Oregonians. AOI actively supports legislation that looks at public private partnerships that addresses this key issue of Oregonians, even if it means opposing politically popular mandates.”

HB 2009 - The Bill That Keeps On Growing May Be Ready to Move

Article by: Betsy Earls - April 10, 2009

Give us your Viewpoint.

The House Health Committee has begun review of yet another set of amendments to HB 2009, the omnibus health reform bill ostensibly modeled on the Oregon Health Fund Board’s report.  These most recent amendments are more than 1100 pages long and are intended to completely replace the printed bill.  The main part of the proposal is in the first 40 pages of the amendments; the remaining 1060 pages are dedicated to conforming amendments.

In an attempt to make the bill all-encompassing, other members of the committee are working on additional amendments relating to workforce, primary care and cost containment.

Representative Greenlick (D-Portland) has stated that he intends to move HB 2009 out of committee by April 15th.
