Senate Committee Unveils Broadest, Deepest Forced CO2 Reduction Measures Yet
Give us your Viewpoint.
Thursday afternoon the Senate and Natural Resources Committee unveiled the environmentalist’s proposal to force deep cuts in CO2 emissions from every sector of Oregon. The plan is the most aggressive CO2 reduction proposal in the nation.
The 25 page proposal, released to the public just minutes before the hearing, broadens the industrial component to include facilities emitting as little as 10 tons per year of CO2. Ten tons per year of CO2 is approximately 15/1000 of 1 percent of the state's total CO2 footprint.
Hearings on the proposal, along with possible amendments, will likely continue next week.
Members of the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee are:
Senator Jackie Dingfelder (D-Portland), Chair

AOI Members are strongly urged to make their voices heard, especially with regards to how dramatic increases in energy rates and control costs would affect your ability to compete both nationally and overseas.
Federal legislation is in the works and is expected to be passed within a year.
